As we went on we realised we wanted to make music that did certain kinds of things. We like all sorts of music  'Treat Me Like Fire' just happened to be that kind of sound. Lucas Goodman: "When we first came out, everyone was using this 'neo-soul' tag, which we don't really see ourselves as. Do you think you're still searching for your identity or is your identity just malleable? There's a lot of different sounds and ideas on it. I've been listening to the album for the past couple of days and it's great. JH: "My little sister listens to Satellite Radio and hears us all the time. Of course there is always a danger when moving into the pop world that artists lose what made them exciting and interesting in the first place, but fortunately on Begin, Lion Babe's debut album, this hasn't happened – they have retained the warmth of that first single while writing increasingly hook-filled tunes. This seemed like a huge statement of intent for a duo I'd previously seen as inhabiting the world of buzzy blogs. They fell off the radar for a couple of years until they announced they were working with Pharrell Williams, then at the height of his 'Happy'/Daft Punk powers. I first heard Lion Babe back in 2013, just after they'd released their first single, 'Treat Me Like Fire'. What stood out was the warmth of their sound and its obvious roots in 1970s soul, especially at a time when so much R&B had become cold and groove-less.
